Voice Teacher/Performer
by Victoria Rapanan Rating: 10I have been studying with David Jones for the past
2 1/2 years, and have incorporated what I've learned in my own singing, as well
as with all of my students. He is the Master of vocal technique. This CD is a
godsend for anyone who wants clear, concise vocal instruction that is healthy
and balanced. In a world that is filled with unhealthy vocal technique, this
CD straightens it all out, and it is all at your fingertips! As I have witnessed
with my own students, all of the exercises work, and some make an immediate improvement!
I recommend it to everyone - beginner or seasoned professional.

Voice teacher & therapist
by Dianne Thornburgh, CCC-SLP Rating: 10These two CDs are excellent! I decided
to write a review because the exercises specifically target not only the building
of the middle register, but also the release of tongue and jaw tension. I especially
like the exercises that tame the root of the tongue, as I have a small mouth
and have to be on my guard against tongue base retraction. That does not negate
the value of all the exercises on the two CDs. I have incorporated techniques
from the Swedish-Italian School with both my voice students and voice therapy
clients, especially in finding frontal focus and contrasting front and back vowels.
I can't wait for Mr. Jones' pedagogy book to be printed!

An introductory lesson
by Meredith Hall Rating: 10This CD is wonderful resource for singers of all
levels, and for teachers. David Jones explains his technical concepts with
great clarity
and directness. This is a straightforward, sane and caring approach to building
a firm foundation for vocal beauty. The excellent excercises are clearly demonstrated
in reasonable keys. I anxiously await the sequel - as this is an "introductory
lesson" hopefully this will be just the first of a series of several Cd's
which tackle increasingly more challenging technical concepts! Wonderful!

by George Antolik Rating: 10David Jones has done a masterful job of presenting
the tenets of the Swedish-Italian school of singing. His CD recording presents
the philosophical basis of this school in a clear, logical manner. Topics such
as breathing, posture, vowel formation, tongue position, vowel modification and
others are explained and, when approprite, demonstrated by David Jones and a
soprano colleague.
Maestro Jones has a very well-produced voice in both the speaking and singing
modes, giving credence to what he is teaching regarding the Swedish-Italian school
of singing.
This is a very important addition to the field of vocal pedagogy as it adds much
new material to a significant school of singing.
In my opinion, the recording would be a bargain at twice the current cost.
Whether you are a singer, techer of singing, or a speaker, you will find many,
many useful suggestions for improving your own or your students' voices.
George Antolik, Ph.D.

Fabulous for Tired Vocal Chords
by Danielle Rating: 10I work for a radio station in LA and have been going home
vocally tired and hoarse until I got David Jones CD.
My throat was raw. I was speaking completely incorrectly. These exercises work
miracles on the speaking voice. Buy it immediately!!!

True Technique available to everyone
by Joe Galelli Rating: 10I have searched the whole web looking for real vocal
technique on CD or tape and only found 'Get a voice quick'cd's which anybody
who has studied singing knows is not possible without real vocal exercises that
develop all the voice and help you understand how your voice works.
I wrote to David Jones last year pleading for help for people like myself who
need his knowledge made available to the public for distance learning and to
help us find true singing teachers instead of charlatans or the genuinely misguided
out there.
I bought the 2 CD's and state they live up to all my hopes and expectations as
a singing student.
There is nothing else out there so comprehensive as a basic teaching aid that
unless another Singing Teacher of the same stature and repute in the field of
singing releases lessons on audio this is the definitive support material for
all singing students who want to see if they can develop a great voice and keep
it!
The only problem I see for students is that once you know what a good technique
is you need a teacher who understands it too so hopefully good teachers will
buy it and learn from the Master Teacher David Jones also!
For Goodness sake... Buy it will its available as this is the real thing.

An introductory lesson with David Jones
by Elizabeth Wright - Lyric Soprano and voice teacher Rating: 10I have been following
David Jones Articles for a couple of years and even written to him once or twice
with queries to which he very helpfully replied, so I was extremely thrilled
to purchase this valuable set.
I have found the explanations clear to follow and very much along the lines of
what I have been teaching, and the excercises so helpful. I would highly recommend
this as a sound technique that could certainly never harm a voice.
If there is one suggestion, it is that in the wonderful vocal warm up CD, the
singer only sings the first one or two and then one can carry on with a sense
of purpose, I just find it a bit slow to listen to each pitch being demonstrated,
but perhaps for a beginner this is helpful as the ear is not yet developed.
Thank you Mr Jones for a wonderful CD.

The love of sound
by Dav'd Robinson Rating: 10In the search to produce the best and most expressive
vocal emissions, singers look for the most viable solution.
The question is which vocal technique among the many different ones would be
the most appropriate?
This CD provides a clear answer to this question.
It includes an array of highly efficient vocal exercises for both the male and
female voices.
I believe it will guide the singer towards healthy vocal habits and will provide
a solid foundation on technical concepts.
But it is important to remember that even excellent books or CDs, such as this
one, will not substitute the live guidance of a fine vocal coach.

Soprano/Voice Teacher/Coach
by Esther Simkin Rating: 10I am an active dramatic coloratura and voice teacher
and I have been following Mr. Jones' work for the past couple of years and I
cannot say enough about how thorough and highly effective this technique is and
what a boon this 2-CD set is for teachers and singers. This collection is worth
its weight in gold and the result of both a respect and a passion for the art
of beautiful singing.

An introductory lesson with David Jones
by Geoff Wilson Rating: 10I am 59 years old, and – although not a professional
singer – I have had quite a bit of previous tuition and experience as
a singer. I also have several instructional tapes and books from various vocal
coaches, all of which were helpful.
Never the less, like many other singers I suppose, I have had ongoing difficulties
in certain areas. While I have not had David Jones’ instructional CDs
very long, my ongoing practice with the exercises has helped overcome those
vocal
difficulties.
It is a great thing that a vocal coach of David Jones’ standing should
be prepared to put together an instructional set of CDs to help singers ranging
from professionals to beginners.

Great supplement to lessons
by Kristin Rating: 10I have been reading David Jones' vocal articles for years
and finally got up the courage to leave a voice teacher and a chorus that were
contributing to my poor vocal health.
I purchased the CD set to use in the interim until I begin lessons with my new
coach. The CD has been very helpful to me and I use the warm-ups on a daily basis.
I have learned so much about how the whole body works to produce a beautiful
sound.
I highly recommend it. Even my husband has started using it to correct his breathing.

Attorney
by gus goldberger Rating: 10As a professional cantor who has been struggling
with my singing voice for many years I now have a new perspective on singing
which no voice teacher (except my Father who was a belcanto concert singer
in Denmark and Montreal many years ago when I could not appreciate his wisdom)
has
explained in a clear straight forward way as Maestro Jones presents it in his
new CD. For example, no teacher focused on my lack of singing in the mask,
and the need to lower the larynx, etc. to avoid damaging the vocal cords. While
I
have been told about the "ng" and humming exercises, it was never
explained in real terms to make it meaningful. Whern I listen to the CD, Jones
demonstrates
the difference and boy is there a difference. At least I have a new focus and
will be working on it until I have the pleasure of meeting him in person to
have him assess my progress. I highly recommend the CD to anyone who struggles
with
the voice in one fashion or another.

Two Thumbs Up!
by Marie McMarrow Rating: 10David Jones' CD is a comprehensive yet understandable
collection of vocal concepts gathered for both teacher and student to understand
easily. Including vocalization of both male and female voice, it covers the core
of heatlhy concepts that produced such singers as Flagstad and Bjoerling. My
students can review this recording before their lessons and be ahead of the game
in their process. In addition, they will build the dicipline needed to become
professional singers. I strongly recommend this CD for both teachers and students
who want a clear understanding of the Swedish/Italian School.

Singer and Voice Teacher
by Lorene Phillips Rating: 9David Jones’ Introductory Lesson is full
of accurate and practical vocal concepts that will keep singers performing
for years
to come. His explanations and vocalizations benefit singers and teachers at
all levels by providing concise narratives that synthesize his mastery of vocal
pedagogy
and technical prowess. If you are serious about being a professional singer
or teacher, you must study the Swedish-American school concepts that David
presents.
I might dare to say, if you master the teachings and vocal concepts contained
an Introductory Lesson with David Jones, you can skip conservatory!

An Introductory lesson with David Jones
by Cathy Pope Rating: 10David Jones understanding of singers and vocal technique
is peerless. It is based so securely and given humbly and what is more it works.
This is very very rare in our profession. I would encourage anyone sincerely
interested in finding answers to vocal to hear what he has to say on this CD.
